Trails in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (DWGNRA):
The DWGNRA boasts some of the best hiking trails
in the region. Dingmans
Campground is located in the center of this 70,000+ acre public
park. Some of the most scenic stretches of the Appalachian Trail
(AT) are only a few miles away from Dingmans Campground in New
Jersey. The Delaware Water
Gap itself, where the Delaware River cuts through the Kittatinny
Ridge, offers challenging hiking for the brave, with steep, rugged
hiking trails that climb over 1,000 vertical feet to the tops of Mt.
Tammany (NJ) and Mt. Minsi (PA).
There are numerous scenic loop trails and day hikes on modest
terrain throughout the park.
In addition, there are a dozen spectacular waterfall hikes
within the DWGNRA or in the surrounding area (see link below).
The newly-constructed McDade Recreational Trail runs 37 miles
on the PA side of the Delaware River from Water Gap to Milford,
offering picturesque river views for your hike (see link below).

Dingmans
Campground Appalachian Trail (AT) Shuttle Service:
Dingmans Campground operates a shuttle van
service to the nearby Appalachian Trail (AT) in NJ.
Our standard AT day hike is a six mile trek from Sunrise
Mountain south to Culvers Gap in NJ.
This stretch of the AT follows along the top of the
Kittatinny Ridge, and there are numerous overlooks with breathtaking
views. There are no
significant up-hill climbs on this route, with a mile long down-hill
portion at the end of the trip.
In addition to our standard AT day hike (Sunrise Mt. to
Culvers Gap), we will shuttle you to other nearby AT access points
for different day hikes or even overnight AT hikes.
Because van capacity is limited, we recommend reservations.
The AT Shuttle runs regardless of weather, Rain or Shine!
Secure parking is free in our campground parking lot.
The AT Shuttle service schedule is provided below:
AT Shuttle Day Trip Offered:
Sunrise Mountain to Culvers Gap (NJ), hiking
approximately 6 miles in 3-4 hours.
AT Shuttle Rates:
Adult (12 and over) - $22.00/person
Child (7-11) - $15.00/child
Guided AT Interpretive Hike available for an additional charge of
$100 per trip.

experienced guides can help make your first AT adventure an
exciting, educational and safe experience.
A guided hike is offered for the 9:00am trip only.
Our guides are certified in first aid, have extensive
knowledge of the AT, wildlife and local history.
