Fishing
The
Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (DWGNRA), a 70,000 acre park
which protects 40 miles of the middle Delaware River, offers a wide
variety of fishing opportunities for an array of different anglers.
The feature body of water is the Delaware River, whose
crystal-clear waters abound with Smallies, Musky, Walleye, Stripers,
Pickerel and Catfish. Large
Browns and Rainbows can be taken in the Delaware River on flies in the
early spring. The annual spring
Shad run is a celebrated event in small towns all along the Delaware
River. Dozens of small, remote
lakes dot the countryside of the DWGNRA, and are accessible for fishing
Largemouth, Smallmouth and Pickerel.
For the trout angler, there are hatchery-stocked streams and
lakes, and numerous wild trout streams. Directions to most fishing
destinations are available in our office.
Dingmans
Campground is located right in the center of the DWGNRA, offering the
angler quick and easy access to the Delaware River and the local
streams, lakes and ponds.
Dingmans Campground features 17 spacious campsites on the Pennsylvania
bank of the Delaware River, and over 100 forest and meadow campsites.
Bring your tent, sleeping bags, rods, tackle box, boat and
waders! Fisherman can launch
their boats at the nearby Dingmans Access (fees apply).
Or, you can use our convenient Canoe and Kayak livery service to
transport you upstream, allowing you to fish while drifting the 9 miles
downstream on the Delaware River to our river access.
